At Wandering Willow, we believe that, like the willow tree, you possess a natural flexibility—the ability to weather the storm without breaking. Whether you are seeking clarity, healing, or a deeper understanding of your own unique mind, we are here to provide the steady ground where your resilience can grow.

Concerns We Support

  • Trauma can shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Whether rooted in a single acute event or repeated experiences over time, trauma can leave the nervous system feeling on edge or shut down. Some trauma is obvious and life-altering, while other forms are quieter and cumulative—such as chronic stress, developmental trauma in early life, intergenerational patterns carried through families, systemic or collective trauma, or even vicarious trauma experienced through caring for others.

Trauma counselling offers a supportive space to gently process what has happened, restore a sense of safety, and reconnect with your inner strength at a pace that feels steady and respectful.

Often helpful for: Childhood trauma, complex trauma, developmental trauma, intergenerational trauma, vicarious trauma, emotional wounds, nervous system dysregulation

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can show up as intrusive memories, flashbacks, heightened reactivity, or emotional numbness. You may feel stuck in survival mode long after the danger has passed. PTSD counselling focuses on helping the brain and body process distressing memories, reduce their intensity, and support long-term healing and resilience.

Often helpful for: Flashbacks, hypervigilance, avoidance, trauma-related anxiety

  • Anxiety can feel like a constant hum of worry or a sudden surge of panic. It may appear as racing thoughts, overthinking, physical tension, difficulty relaxing, or fears that feel hard to control. For some, anxiety shows up through specific phobias or obsessive-compulsive patterns (OCD) that create cycles of intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviours. Anxiety counselling helps you understand your patterns, develop tools for emotional regulation, and build a steadier relationship with uncertainty and stress.

Often helpful for: Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, specific phobias, OCD, perfectionism

  • Chronic stress can slowly wear down your energy, focus, and sense of balance. When stress becomes constant, it can impact sleep, relationships, and overall well-being. Counselling for chronic stress supports nervous system regulation, boundary setting, and sustainable coping strategies that help you move from survival toward steadiness.

Often helpful for: Burnout, overwhelm, work-related stress, caregiver fatigue

  • Depression can feel like heaviness, disconnection, or a loss of motivation and hope. You may notice changes in sleep, appetite, energy, or interest in activities that once felt meaningful. Depression counselling offers compassionate support while helping you reconnect with purpose, self-understanding, and gentle forward movement.

Often helpful for: Low mood, fatigue, hopelessness, emotional withdrawal

  • Grief is not limited to the loss of a loved one. It can arise from relationship changes, health shifts, identity loss, or life transitions. Some losses are sudden or traumatic, including the death of a loved one through violence, suicide, or when someone is missing and answers feel uncertain. Grief counselling provides space to honour your experience without rushing the process. Together, we make room for sorrow while also tending to meaning, connection, and healing.

Often helpful for: Bereavement, traumatic loss, suicide loss, missing loved ones, relationship loss, anticipatory grief, life changes

  • Addictions often begin as attempts to cope with stress, pain, or emotional overwhelm. Over time, these patterns can become difficult to manage alone. Addictions counselling supports you in understanding underlying triggers, building healthier coping strategies, and strengthening your sense of agency and self-trust. Our approach meets you where you are in your relationship with change and can thoughtfully integrate spiritual or meaning-centered perspectives when that feels supportive and aligned with your values.

Often helpful for: Substance use, behavioural addictions, habit change, ambivalence about change

From navigating family dynamics and the nuances of friendships to addressing romantic attachment concerns and marital struggles, I help clients build stronger foundations. This includes space for navigating diverse relational paths such as polyamory or ethical non-monogamy, as well as addressing intimacy and sexual concerns. Together, we will work toward building connections that are respectful, resilient, and deeply aligned with your personal values.

Often helpful for: Communication issues, conflict resolution, attachment patterns, family tension, non-monogamous relationships, intimacy and sexual concerns

  • Living with complex mental health conditions often requires steady, ongoing support. We work with individuals in maintenance or recovery phases who are connected to a clinical care team, offering therapy focused on stability, practical tools, and daily functioning. This may include support for thought disorders such as schizophrenia, personality disorders, and complex mood conditions including Bipolar I & II.

Our approach is integrative and grounded, drawing from EMDR, CBT, DBT-informed skills, and person-centered care to support emotional regulation and resilience. I also offer support for family members and caregivers navigating burnout and communication challenges while walking alongside a loved one.

Often helpful for: Maintenance and recovery support, emotion regulation, trauma processing, caregiver support, collaborative care alongside psychiatric treatment

Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

We recognize neurodiversity as a natural variation in how minds process, perceive, and engage with the world. Rather than focusing on deficits, neurodiversity-affirming therapy honours strengths while supporting challenges in ways that feel empowering and respectful.
